Writing emails for the purpose of marketing is one of the most common ways of creating awareness of our goods and services. Unfortunately, the convenience of using emails over other forms of communication such as TV, letters, newspapers, etc., have made the competition stiff and opened the door for many mediocre emails to be written. However email marketing is still a great way to advertise your product so long as you write them well and deliver the job properly. So the question is: how can you write emails that will actually be opened, without being labeled as spam, read, and then acted upon?

Get a good heading

Try to get a good heading for each of your email marketing campaign. Even if the person who reads your email will “BECOME RICH OVERNIGHT,” you don’t need to say that to have your readers open their mails. Emails that show $$$ end up looking as spam and then they may not be opened or taken seriously. On the other hand, your emails shouldn’t have boring headings that will cause your readers to go to sleep. You are probably competing with 50 other emails everyday for the same readers’ attention.

Understand your clients

For you to deliver a proper email, you need to understand your clients so that you may know what benefits they yearn for and what they would like to get. When writing these emails, do not be thrilled with the features of your product, no matter how exciting you think they sound. The buyer is not really concerned about what the features are. Instead, the buyer is concerned about what benefits he will get if he gets your product. Therefore, in the body of the emails, make sure that you have explored everything that the buyer needs to know and wants to hear. Start with the benefits that are most important to him and not to you. The less important benefits should be placed at the bottom of the list. It is your job to link what you are offering to what the buyer is looking for.

Write in a conversational tone

Many writers feel that because they do not know the reader personally, they should write in a formal tone. This however is a very wrong perception. Any person with an email would love to receive emails that are coming from a friend. Emails that come from friends usually enable us to read them and like them. Writing emails in a conversational tone create a personal relationship between the writer and the reader. The end result? The recipients like your emails. In fact, they end up reading the emails and waiting for them. How does that sound?

Email marketing is a very wide field that looks into issues such as the email marketing company that you will choose, the number of emails that you intend to send out and the interval between different emails. To ensure that the emails you write are properly delivered and read, you must ensure that you do proper research on all important factors.
